The cross was commissioned for a Christian conference centre in England. The clients spend time in Shetland each year and wished it to reflect the islands. The upright of the cross is shaped like a boat's stem. The ash timber was ingrained with peat soil which inhances the grain pattern of the timber and it is also a little bit of Shetland.
