We are exhibition several pieces of furniture in ” The Line gallery” in Linlithgow next month. for more info on the gallery go to http://www.thelineonline.co.uk/

Our Emnet console table will be on display. It was inspired from a trip to Norway where i spent a week learning how to make a weaving loom by hand. They had a technique of finding timber that is the correct shape, which minimized the need to joint piece together. I thought this would be an interesting starting point for a design using local Shetland timber for the two Y shaped uprights.

I have recently been involved with an exciting art project. I made decorative boxes which are on display in the Shetland Museum. The display is a collaboration between artist John Cumming and myself. John made various beautiful object in different stone materials. It’s around the theme of “ditty boxes” used by fishermen long ago to store precious small items while at sea. This runs untill the end of August and can be seen on the ground floor outside the auditorium. Later in the year it will be on display in Orkney and then next year it will travel to Ullapool and Dortmund, Germany. The design was inspired from the shape of a gold bar and I used rare and expensive veneers like quilted maple, ice birch, rosewood and wenge to emphasis the precious nature of the various boxes. The project was funded by the Cape farewell foundation

Next week from the 22nd -24th of May we are exhibiting our guitar stand stool in London.

Forty-five leading furniture makers and interior textiles companies from across Scotland will join forces later this month to create a unique one-off exhibition at Clerkenwell Design Week in London from 22-24 May.

Leading well-known interior textiles designers and manufacturers will be presented alongside internationally-recognised furniture makers. In addition, a number of never-seen-before bespoke collaborations will be unveiled, created exclusively for the 2012 event.

The design week, situated in Clerkenwell – an area renowned for more architects and interior designers per square mile than anywhere else in the world – is a three-day festival celebrating design’s creative richness, social relevance and technological advancements through an exciting programme of workshops, presentations, product launches and debates.

Clerkenwell Design Week is free to attend and will be taking place between 10am – 9pm on 22-24 May at various locations around Clerkenwell.

The Scottish Furniture and Interiors Exhibition will be hosted in the House of Detention at stand number 17.
