The overall design was inspired from the shape of a lighthouse. In Mt 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Base

The base was made from horse chestnut. It was sanded blasted to give a rock like texture. This symbolism was taken from Matt 16 when Jesus asked his disciples who do you say I am.

Mt 16:16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Mt 16:17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” 20 Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.

On the understanding that Jesus is the Messiah, Simon was given the name Peter (meaning rock) and it is this foundation which the church is built on.

Stem

Rising out of the rock is the stem which was made to look like a stone pillar, with V shaped lines carved into to it in the same way that stone block are joined together. In 1 Peter 2 v 5 it says that the church is like living stones being built into a spiritual house. The stem symbolises how as individual Christians we a joined together into his body the church.

1Pe 2:4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” 7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,’” 8 and,
“A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.”
They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for. 1Pe 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Crown

The shape of the top was inspired for a lighthouse but also represents a crown. Christ is the head of the Church He is also our King and our Lord. The church needs to take it lead from him. The crown has 5 arches which represent the Five fold ministry of apostle. prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher. These 5 ministries giving from God are connected to the head and cause to church to grow into its fullness

Eph 4: 11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Eph 4:14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Both the stem and the top were made in maple, carved into the top in Hebrew script is Melech Yahew and shalom which means The Lord is King and Peace
