Sculptural Furniture from Shetland grown timber |

We were fortunate to come across some local grown Shetland timber. I had stored them in the workshop for several years wondering what to make from them. They had developed some splits because they hadn't been converted into planks soon enough. I thought we should have some fun with them and turn them into outdoor seating.
I am also hoping they might encourage Shetlander to plant trees for the future generations. The largest log in the group is several feet thick and goes to show that in time and in a good location suitable furniture making timber can be grown on the islands. Some of the pieces also had really beautiful burrs growing on them which we will be using on future projects. |
