Project Description

Working with driftwood is always a challenge and a pleasure. Finding the perfect piece of timber can take far more time and effort than you expect, and once found, moving large logs such as these by hand is no easy task! Once in the workshop though, it’s a case of finding a design to match and do justice to the driftwood, with the physical boundaries and style dictated by nature. This bench used two well travelled pieces of driftwood, and set into a frame of oak. The frame contrasts the old wood, but compliments the curved and natural lines of the weathered driftwood to tie it back together.

Of course any driftwood bench deserves a fitting location; this one installed in front of the porch where countless hours can be spent gazing to the ocean.
