You’ll learn the essential techniques that form the foundation of all spindle turning-skills you can use for future projects like honey dippers, rolling pins, mallets, and more.

  • Tool safety and lathe setup – understanding your tools and how to work safely
  • Spindle turning fundamentals – including beads, coves, V-cuts, and shaping
  • Tool control and confidence – using the roughing gouge, spindle gouge, and parting tool
  • Shaping simple forms – practice pieces you can take home
  • Sanding and finishing – creating a smooth, tactile surface
